Welcome to the SESAME Data Management website, as created by the responsible partner (IOLR).
http://isramar.ocean.org.il/sesamemeta
The aim of this site is to provide ready access of most SESAME data to the SESAME consortium and the general public in a timely manner. This new site will help in achieving SESAME’s objectives with regards to data management, which include, among others, the coordination of actions of data and metadata services, along with the implementation of common standards and effective mechanisms for the collection and availability of SESAME-related historical data, newly collected data and model data.
Access to the data and relevant Publications are governed by the SESAME Data Policy and SESAME Publication Strategy.
Data management plays a key role in scientific research and particularly within large international projects like SESAME. The assessment of changes in the Mediterranean and Black Sea ecosystems over the last 50 year requires the collection of historical, multidisciplinary observations as well as the provision of access to this data in a timely and efficient manner for all SESAME partners. Furthermore, in order to assess the current status of these ecosystems, protocols and tools that support fast data flow from data providers to researchers need to be developed.
In agreement with all partners and following the work program and deliverables as outlined in the SESAME contract, any scientific primary data already existing and being of relevance to SESAME or produced through research within SESAME should be archived in the SESAME database.
