The oceanographic cruises in the Southern European Seas (SES)
- Scientists collecting sea water samples (Martin Agis)
Scientists regularly embark on expeditions (cruises) to collect samples for further analysis in the laboratory. They use well-equipped research vessels to do experiments at sea, and collect water samples, plants and animals that live in the sea, atmospheric gases etc. During their missions, oceanographers work night and day as the main objective is to bring back ashore as much data and samples as possible that are later analysed for months or even years!
